Tim Wang is the co-founder and chairman of General Water Technology Co. Ltd (GWT). General Water Technology's mission is to leverage technologies and innovations to tackle the world's most pressing water challenges. GWT’s received strategic investments from GE and top tier PE firms including Gaocheng Capital, GGV and SourceCode.

Prior to starting GWT, Tim served as CEO & President of Canature Group, a public listed company in China and a global leader in the residential water filtration industry. During his tenure in Canature Group, Tim led a dramatic global expansion and significant growth of the company.

Tim began his career at General Electric Company (GE), working through product management, corporate audit and corporate M&A functions. Tim also worked for Crouse-Hinds (an Eaton Company) as global VP and general manager for Asia Pacific region. Tim spent eight years in Ecolab, a global leader in water management, food safety and public hygiene, with progressive responsibilities as VP global strategy, and EVP and president, Greater China region.

Tim received his MBA degree from Harvard Business School with high distinction (Baker Scholar). He also holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees with honor in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Professor Cui is a renowned materials scientist and innovative researcher who leads a cutting edge research lab at Stanford University which is focused on materials innovations for sustainability including nanomaterials, water filtration,energy, electrochemistry, batteries, solar cells, transparent electrodes, electrocatalysis, 2D layered materials, topological insulators, air filtration, solid clean up, wearable technology, nanobiotechnology.

Professor Cui is widely recognized as one of the most influential Materials Science Researchers globally. In 2010, Professor Cui unveiled the revolutionary "killer Water Filter", a cost-effective system featured among Scientific America's Top 10 world Changing Ideas. This technology eliminates 99.9999% of bacteria,revolutionizing water purification. He has published nearly 540 research papers with 200,000+ citations and was ranked NO.1 in Materials Science by Thomson Reuters as “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” in 2014. Now he is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, fellow of the Materials Research Society, fellow of the Electrochemical Society, and fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry as well as other awards including: the Dan Maydan Prize in Nanoscience (2020), Nano Today Award (2020), Electrochemical Society Battery Technology Award (2019), Blavatnik National Laureate (2017), MRS Kavli Distinguished Lectureship in Nanoscience (2015), the Sloan Research Fellowship (2010), KAUST Investigator Award (2008), ONR Young Investigator Award (2008), Technology Review World Top Young Innovator Award (2004). He also takes the director role of the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University to lead groundbreaking research in materials innovations for sustainability, water filtration, spanning nanomaterials, energy storage, electrochemistry, solar cells and more.

Professor Cui has founded multiple companies to commercialize technologies from his group including: Amprius Inc., 4C Air Inc., EEnotech, Inc. and EnnoPure,Inc. In 2022, EEnotech launched EnnoPure,Inc as a spinout for which Prof. Cui serves as Chief Technology Advisor.

Professor Cui received B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), a Ph.D at Harvard University and a Miller Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of California, Berkeley.
